A Sad Day in Greece

Hey guys.

This is my fairwell from Greece post. The mood is kind of depressing here right now. A plane crashed yesterday. It was a passenger plane with 115 people (most of them children) on it. It was terrorism at least. It was an equiptment malfunction or something. Basically the oxygen supply just stopped working and everyone passed out, including the pilots. =(

It is such a depressing thought. I can imagine all of those people just lying there unconscious while the plane went down. No screaming, no crying, no last goodbyes or attempts to fix the problem like you see in the movies. Just silence. In a way I think its more depressing this way. If it were anything else they could have at least landed the plane safer using the wind. They would have had more control. This way it was just that it went straight into a mountain with no resistence because no one was alive to stop it.

I leave in two days. I'm not really nervous considering they're always much more careful with checking the planes after things like this anyway. But I'm still a little anxious about it. If some idiot can forget to check the oxygen supply once why can't it happen again? I don't know.

But I'm praying for the families of all of those people who died, especially the children who died. I'm also selfishly praying for myself that I get home safely. The whole idea of how this happened just leaves a bad feeling in my stomach.

But I'll be back, assuming all goes well, on Wednesday night. =) If you guys are free Friday maybe we can get together and I get give you all your souveniers.

See you all soon!

That's a really depressing thought, about the plane. That's really sad, and I can just imagine it. It's not selfish for you to do that, you gotta look out for yourself :) I hope you get back safely too.

Thanks. I just got back today and everything went ok. At first I was a little nervous but eventually I calmed down and felt a lot better about it. It is very sad how it happened. I know they are still investigating it to see what really went wrong. Hopefully they can do something about finding the cause so it doesn't happen again.

When I heard that on the news I thought about you. That is very sad. I'm so glad you are coming home soon. I can't to hear all about your trip!

I'm home! I was a little nervous about the flights with the crash and all but everything went fine. There was heavy security in London though. We had a connecting flight there but we spent most of our time just going through security check points and metal detectors and all that.

I'm so glad to be home! Wanna get together this weekend?

Welcome home Jenny! I'm glad you had such a good time in Greece. I will be in Chicago on Friday night, but I am free Saturday.
